Energy
Most of the power in Alaska comes from fossil fuels, natural gas or diesel fuel although there are some other forms already in use. There are over 50 hydroelectric power plants supplying energy to Alaskan communities. Alaska is also using wind power; the first wind farm opened in 1997. National policies promoting development of clean, renewable energy sources have spurred advances in technologies to use wind and solar energy.
